Invisalign is a state-of-the-art orthodontic treatment that uses a series of clear removable aligners to improve the aesthetic condition of your smile.
Unlike traditional braces, Invisalign aligners are manufactured using an FDA-approved thermoplastic known as SmartTrack®.
Not only is this material designed to straighten your smile, but it’s also entirely free of gluten, latex, bisphenol A (BPA), and bisphenol S (BPS). This makes Invisalign ideal for individuals who have allergies.
Your Invisalign treatment at The Bonner Dental Network PC starts with Dr. Bonner taking a mold of your teeth and discussing your aesthetic goals. He then sends this information to a laboratory that manufactures your aligners.
Once your aligners arrive at The Bonner Dental Network PC, you’ll need to wear them for between 20-22 hours every day. You’ll have a follow-up appointment every 4-6 weeks so Dr. Bonner can monitor your progress.
The length of time you’ll need to wear your Invisalign aligners depends on a variety of factors, but most people complete treatment within a year.
After you’re finished wearing your aligners, Dr. Bonner gives you a retainer to complete your orthodontic treatment. At first, you need to wear your retainer throughout the day, but eventually, you only need to wear it at night.
Dr. Bonner generally recommends Invisalign treatment for men, women, and adolescents who have minor orthodontic issues.
Although aligners are comfortable and incredibly versatile, some orthodontic problems require more intensive methods of treatment such as traditional metal braces.
In addition, Invisalign isn’t recommended for children under age 14. At these young ages, your child’s teeth and jaws are still growing, which can complicate treatment.
Invisalign aligners are just like dentures and retainers in that they need to be cleaned regularly. It’s recommended that you rinse them off after every meal and brush them gently with your toothbrush at least once a day.
For more thorough cleaning, you can ask Dr. Bonner about the Invisalign cleaning system.
