Bright White TeethDental fillings don't have to change the appearance of your teeth. Cosmetic fillings look just like your natural tooth color and offer an excellent alternative to silver amalgam fillings. Your downtown Washington, DC, dentist Dr. Leslie Bonner offers fillings at The Bonner Dental Network.

What are cosmetic fillings?

Cosmetic fillings are made of composite resin, a soft material composed of powdered plastic and glass. Composite resin is available is tinted to match common tooth colors, ensuring that your dental work is never noticeable. Before you receive a filling, your downtown Washington, DC, dentist will choose a color that closely matches your natural tooth color.

What happens when I receive a cosmetic filling?

Your dentist will use a local anesthetic to numb your mouth, then remove the decayed portion of your tooth. Eliminating decay also requires the removal of a margin of healthy tooth structure around the decayed area. The larger the area removed, the weaker the tooth may become. Cosmetic fillings require removal of a smaller margin than silver amalgam fillings, which helps your tooth remain strong.

After the decay is removed, your dentist will apply an etching solution that will help the filling adhere to your tooth, followed by bonding material and the composite resin filling. Your new filling will quickly harden after it's exposed to an ultraviolet curing light.

Cosmetic fillings offer a few important benefits. They bond to your teeth, improving their strength, and don't react to temperature changes. Silver amalgam fillings, in contrast, contract and expand when they're exposed to hot or cold foods or beverages. Constant contraction and expansion can eventually weaken your tooth and increase your risk of cracks and fractures.

Are you ready to improve your smile with a cosmetic filling? Call your downtown Washington, DC dentist Dr. Leslie Bonner of The Bonner Dental Network at (202) 249-9131 to schedule your appointment.

Find out why you may want to turn to your dentist if you are interested in this simple cosmetic treatment.botox

Even though some people wear their laugh lines like a badge of honor, not everyone feels as great about these wrinkles. If you have crow’s feet, forehead lines or wrinkles around the nose and mouth that bother you, our Washington, DC cosmetic dentist, Dr. Leslie Bonner, could help smooth out these facial lines and help you get a more youthful appearance.

My Dentist Offers Botox?

When people think about Botox they often assume they have to go to a dermatologist or even cosmetic surgeon to get this treatment, but our Washington, DC dentist makes it easier to get that youthful look just by coming into our dental office.

Why should you choose a dentist to perform this simple cosmetic procedure? One thing is certain: dentists receive a lot of advanced training with regards to the maxillofacial region, which means that if any doctor should be allowed to provide Botox it should be a dentist. After all, dentists have to perform some rather invasive maxillofacial procedures regularly.

If you are looking to smooth away dynamic wrinkles around the eyes, forehead, mouth and nose then Botox injections may be all that you need to take years off your skin. These thin needles are so small that most patients don’t feel anything more than a slight pinch. In a matter of minutes, the treatment is over. Over the course of three to four days, you will start to see some of those lines and wrinkles disappear (it can take up to one week to see the full results). While Botox results are temporary, if you want to maintain your results for longer you can always come back in every few months for a refresher treatment.

If you are interested in taking years off your skin then it’s time to call The Bonner Dental Network in Washington, DC to schedule your consultation. Let’s find out if Botox is right for you.

Cosmetic dentistry is a priceless facet of general dentistry, allowing you to rejuvenate your smile with only a few dental procedures. FindingDental Implants, Invisalign, Cosmetic Dentistry the right procedure for you could be as easy as asking your dentist about cosmetic dentistry and what it can do for your smile. Find out more about some common procedures with Dr. Leslie Bonner at The Bonner Dental Network at one of two Washington, DC locations.

What is cosmetic dentistry?
Cosmetic dentistry focuses on improving the look of your smile. Some procedures kill two birds with one stone, improving both the aesthetics and functionality of your smile while others simply give you a smile you will love. Dentists can choose to undergo additional training in cosmetic dentistry procedures to further their education on the subject or gather the most up-to-date information.

Invisalign
Invisalign is a form of orthodontic treatment which, unlike traditional braces, offers a quick and discreet way to improve your smile. The process treats the same issues as traditional braces, but uses clear aligner trays rather than metal brackets and wires, allowing you to straighten your smile and correct your bite issues. Patients remove Invisalign’s trays to eat and brush their teeth, making this method of orthodontic care the most convenient and effortless on the market.

Dental Implants
Dental implants replace a missing tooth. Unlike other tooth replacement options like dental bridges, implants also replace a missing tooth’s root. This is crucial in providing the bone with the stimulation it requires to avoid atrophy and remain healthy. Dental implants require several dental appointments to complete but last a lifetime with the proper care. Implants are touted as the most efficient and permanent tooth replacement procedure available.
